This September, Medulin welcomes a brand-new attraction that will delight history enthusiasts, culture lovers and families alike. The Explora Vižula Interpretation Centre opens its doors on September 4 and 5 on the beautiful Vižula Peninsula, one of the most important archaeological sites in Istria.
Through modern multimedia features, interactive exhibitions and engaging stories, visitors will discover what life was like in Roman times, explore the mysteries of the ancient villa on Vižula and learn about the daily lives of its inhabitants.
But the opening offers much more than a museum visit.
A Two-Day Programme for the Whole Family
During both days, visitors can enjoy a rich programme inspired by the ancient world. A Roman Camp and Roman Village will bring history to life with demonstrations of ancient crafts, Roman legionaries and gladiators.
Children can take part in workshops, ancient games and a junior gladiator school, while adults can enjoy guided interpretation walks, immersive historical experiences and exciting gladiator battles.
Puppet shows, creative workshops and nature-themed activities will provide additional entertainment for visitors of all ages.
History Told in a Modern Way
The new centre combines Medulin's rich Roman heritage with contemporary technology. Through interactive applications, multimedia installations and audio guides, visitors can explore stories about the Roman villa, its residents, economy, beliefs and legends that still live on today.
One of the most fascinating stories is linked to Crispus, the son of Emperor Constantine the Great, whose fate is connected to Vižula through local legend.
