Audience prizes awarded "Libar za vajk" 23rd Book Fair(y) in Istria

On Sunday, December 10th 2017, the last day of the 23rd Book Fair(y) in Istria, audience prizes known as Libar za vajk were awarded.

This award was first established two years ago and is dedicated to the festival audience, its visitors and readers. The public had to choose between a number of books that were nominated and the winner was to remain a book “za vajk“ (Istrian: for forever) meaning a book that will stand the test of time. There were 43 books nominated and the prize was won by „A Strangeness in My Mind“ written by Orhan Pamuk and published by Vuković & Runjić, second place was awarded to “Comics: A Global History, 1968 to the Present“ by Dan Mazur and Alexander Danner published by Sandorf publishing and the book „Hrvatska od stoljeća 7. do danas“ (Croatia from the 7th century until today) by Dinko Šokčević published by Durieux came in third.

Other than the sculpture by the designer Mauricio Ferlin, the prize also included 15,000 Kuna for the publisher and an additional 5,000 Kuna for the book's author and a 15-days stay in Pula's residence for author called Asylum, Giardini 2. The financial part of the prize was sponsored by the Arena Hospitality Group, the Fair(y)'s partner for a number of years. On behalf of Arena Hospitality Group the prize was presented by Mrs. Milena Perković to the translator of the award-winning book Mr. Ivan Ivanović.
