Teran und Trüffelfest

When autumn tones predominate in Istria, the landscapes are covered in hundreds of shades of yellow, orange and red. From the top of the hill, Motovun, a medieval town overlooking the Motovun Forest, the Mirna River and its stunning valley, majestically looks out on this autumnal blaze of color.

A two-day exhibition and tastings of Teran wine and truffles take place here in October. Teran is an ancient Istrian variety that predominated on the Istrian peninsula about a hundred years ago and was first mentioned more than 600 years ago. Due to its strong and strong taste, the local Istrian wine goes best with ham, cheese and meat and game dishes and, with its ruby red color, seems to harmonize with the autumn colors of Istria.

The real star of the festival, alongside Teran, is the truffle, an underground Istrian treasure without which today's gourmet cuisine would be unthinkable.

The festival brings together Istrian winemakers and Teran producers in one place who want to give it the importance it deserves. Therefore, the gastronomic experience is naturally completed by truffle dishes, with an emphasis on those that best suit Teran.
